Our Story

Some people stage homes. We bring them to life.

Bay Area Artisan Staging is Matt and Erica — a husband-and-wife creative team with deep roots in art, design, craftsmanship, and the Bay Area community.

Before launching their staging company, they spent a decade building Rare Bird, a beloved Oakland boutique, studio, and gallery known for its thoughtfully curated spaces, handcrafted goods, and rotating exhibitions featuring Bay Area artists. More than a shop, Rare Bird became a neighborhood destination — a place where design felt personal, creative, and deeply lived in.

That same mindful approach now shapes every home they stage.

Matt, an Oakland native, brings more than 25 years of experience remodeling homes, woodworking, and building custom furniture.

Erica is a jewelry designer and an artist with a background in visual merchandising and an intuitive understanding of how composition, texture, light, and atmosphere shape the feeling of a space.

Together, they blend custom-built pieces, thoughtfully sourced furnishings, vintage finds, and original works from Bay Area artists to create spaces that feel elevated, inviting, and authentic.

Bay Area Artisan Staging was built on the belief that great staging is more than design — it’s creating an emotional connection the moment someone walks through the door.
